Flash Player 11 Released

Adobe has released a new version,, of its Flash Player for all platforms: Mac OS X, Linux, Windows, and Solaris.  This does not appear to be a security-related update; it includes better support for hardware-assisted rendering.  More information about the changes is available in the announcement on the Adobe Flash Player & AIR blog.

Updated versions of Flash Player can be downloaded from the Adobe download page.  Windows users can, alternatively, use the update mechanism built into the package.  Windows users should also note that they may need two updates: one for Internet Explorer, and one for all other browsers.

Google’s Chrome browser comes with a bundled version of Flash Player, so there will probably be a new release of Chrome to include the new player fairly soon.
