In keeping with its usual schedule, Microsoft today released its Security Bulletin Advance Notification for January, previewing the security fixes it plans to release next Tuesday, January 11. After last month’s holiday extravaganza of 17 bulletins, this month will have only two patches, both for Windows itself. One patch affects only Windows Vista, and is rated Important; the other affects all Windows versions, and is rated either Critical or Important. Microsoft says that both patches may require a reboot.
As usual, details of these patches are subject to change before their official release on Tuesday. I will post an updated summary after the release is made.
