Yet Another Chrome Update

Google’s last update to its Chrome browser was just three days ago, but the company has now released another new version, 6.0.472.62, in the Stable and Beta channels, for all platforms (Mac OS X, Windows, and Linux).  The Beta channel also has an update for Chrome Frame, the plugin for Internet Explorer that, in effect, runs Chrome inside of IE.  This update fixes three security vulnerabilities, one rated as Critical severity, the other two as High severity.  It also includes an updated version of Adobe’s Flash Player, which is bundled with Chrome.  More details are available in the release announcement on the official Google Chrome Releases blog.

Because of the security content of this release, I recommend that you upgrade to it as soon as you can.  You can obtain the new version via the built-in update mechanism ( Menu / About Google Chrome ); if you are using Linux, it should be available via your standard package management tool.

Update Saturday, 18 September, 23:40 EDT

According to Adobe’s updated Security Advisory APSA 10-03, the new version of the Flash Player included with this version of Chrome fixes the recently discovered vulnerability in that software.
