Microsoft Black Tuesday Preview, July 2010

July 8, 2010

In keeping with its usual schedule, Microsoft released its Security Bulletin Advance Notification for July 2010 today, giving an overview of the security patches it intends to release next Tuesday, July 13.   There are four fixes to be released this month, two for Windows, with a maximum severity rating of Critical, and two affecting Microsoft Office, one rated Critical, and one rated Important.   One of the Windows patches affects only Windows XP and Server 2003; the other affects only Windows 7 (apparently only 64-bit versions) and Server 2008 Release 2.  The details are, as always, subject to change between now and the time the patches are actually released.

As usual, I will post an update here after the patches are released next Tuesday.
